The ‘rock’n’roll’ vegetable polisher introduced by Tong Peal at the PotatoEurope 2006 show in Hannover this month attracted inquiries from throughout Europe and far beyond.
As the first of the New Generation Veg Polishers was being installed in the UK, the machine was gaining a reputation in Germany because of its unique pendulum action which contrasts with the rotary action of conventional washers and polishers.
“The brushes are mounted in a ‘U’ formation, moving from side to side in a rock’n’roll style, turning the produce over to maintain full contact,” says Barry Ledger, sales manager of Tong Peal.
“The quality of the finish on potatoes as well as carrots, and the lower operating costs, created a lot of interest among visitors. We had serious inquiries not just from Europe but the Middle East and even Peru.”
The New Generation Vegetable Polisher is manufactured by Martin Maq in Spain to the engineering standards of Tong Peal which markets the product exclusively worldwide outside Spain.
