Optiscan II is a camera based defect sorter which grades potatoes and onions by quality and size.
Cameras - The most up to date totally digital technology allows the grading of up to ten tubers a minute per machinery lane. Picture aquisition is by a double synchronised digital camera by infrared and colour.
Colour Grading - By recognising colour a sample can sorted 'light from dark' thus enhancing the product and giving added value.
Defect Sorting - Defects are detected and graded as required i.e. stockfeed, class one, class two etc....
Size and Form - Potatoes can be graded by diameter, surface area or volume. The separation nover oval tubers from round tubers again adds value.
Orphea - The Windows based interface system is Maf's own Orphea. Developed in-house the user friendly computor system gives the operator a comprehensive range of options: automatic memorising of programmes, easy programming, rapid operation, operator programme modifications while the machine is in operation, real time display on the monitor screen, modem linked to Maf.
